Karachi court remands man held in wife’s killing case
A Karachi court has remanded a 63-year-old man in police custody for two days in a case involving the killing of his wife in Orangi Town. Police said the suspect surrendered after the incident and the alleged weapon was recovered.

KARACHI: A local court in Karachi on Friday sent a man accused of killing his wife with an iron rod to police custody for two days.
The suspect, identified as 63-year-old Asghar Ali, was presented before the Judicial Magistrate (West), who approved his physical remand and handed him over to investigators. Police told the court that the suspect’s criminal record was still being verified as part of the inquiry.
According to police, the suspect has confessed to the killing and the alleged murder weapon has already been recovered. They said a murder case was registered against the accused at Pakistan Bazaar police station on the state’s complaint.
Police said the man surrendered on Thursday after allegedly attacking his wife during a domestic dispute in Orangi Town. The incident took place in Sector 11.5, Ghaziabad, within the limits of the Pakka Qila police station, where he allegedly assaulted his wife inside their home, killing her at the scene. After the incident, police said, he locked the house and went to the police station to turn himself in. Officers later recovered the body from the residence and shifted it to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for legal formalities. The deceased was identified by officials as 58-year-old Asma Begum, the mother of four children.
