Samina Peerzada says it’s time for visa-on-arrival between Pakistan, India

Veteran actress Samina Peerzada has shared a deeply personal wish — she wants to reunite with her friends in India, and hopes travel between the two countries becomes much easier for ordinary people.

In a recent interview, she spoke openly about how the restrictions on movement between India and Pakistan affect her emotionally, especially when it comes to personal friendships that have lasted for years.

“I have so many dear friends in India, in Delhi and Mumbai. I miss them, I think about them, and my heart feels sad because I cannot meet them. I am sure they feel the same way about me. I want to see them again,” she said.

She went on to describe a wish that felt almost symbolic — the idea of being able to travel freely and receive a visa upon arrival.

“It is my wish to travel to Amritsar, reach the border from our side, and receive an Indian visa there. Likewise, our friends coming from India should be able to get a visa when they arrive here,” she added.

For her, the issue goes beyond diplomacy or politics. She stressed that artists, in particular, have always found ways to stay connected, but ordinary people deserve the same freedom.

“I sincerely hope that if we can continue meeting in foreign countries, whether in London, Dubai, or elsewhere, then why can’t we meet in Lahore? Why can’t we meet in Delhi? Why can’t we meet in Mumbai? Why can’t we meet in Karachi?” she said.

The emotional appeal has resonated with many online, especially those who see cultural exchange and personal relationships as something that transcends borders.

Samina Peerzada, one of Pakistan’s most respected film and television figures, has long been associated with powerful performances across decades of work in film, TV, and theatre, and continues to remain a prominent voice in public conversations.
