Charles Leclerc signs multi-year Ferrari extension
Charles Leclerc has signed a multi-year extension with Ferrari ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix. The team said the Monegasque driver will stay for the coming Formula 1 seasons.

MONACO: Charles Leclerc has signed a multi-year contract extension with Ferrari, the Formula One team announced on Wednesday, days before the Monaco Grand Prix at his home race.
Ferrari said in a statement on its website that Leclerc would remain with the team for the coming seasons of the Formula 1 World Championship. The 28-year-old has been part of Ferrari since 2019 and has won eight Grands Prix with the Italian team. His most recent victory came in 2024.
Leclerc is currently third in this season’s championship standings and is three points ahead of teammate Lewis Hamilton. His best finish in the world championship came in 2022, when he ended the season as runner-up to Max Verstappen.
Leclerc said he was delighted to continue with the team he had long wanted to represent.
"It's the team I've loved and dreamt of being part of since I was a child, and after all these years it has become a second family,"He added that he remained committed to Ferrari’s pursuit of the title.
Together we've shared incredible moments and some tougher ones, but I believe in this team more than ever, and I'm deeply grateful that we will keep pushing side by side toward our shared goal of bringing the World Championship back to Maranello.
Being a Ferrari driver is a dream, but it's also a responsibility I never take for granted.
Ferrari praises Leclerc’s record
Ferrari described Leclerc as its second-most capped Formula 1 driver and said he also ranks second in pole positions for the team, behind only Michael Schumacher.
Team principal Fred Vasseur said the renewal was a natural step for Ferrari, pointing to Leclerc’s progress since joining the team.
"This renewal feels like something very natural for us,"Vasseur said Ferrari had watched Leclerc develop into one of Formula 1’s strongest drivers and someone fully aligned with the team and its identity.
We appreciate his talent, we love his determination and the way he approaches every day with the people in the Scuderia, both on and off the track.
The announcement comes ahead of a key weekend for Leclerc in Monaco, where he will race with renewed backing from the team as Ferrari continues its campaign in the 2025 season.
