Islamabad reimposes 8pm market closure timings

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad administration has again imposed early closing hours for markets, directing shops, markets and shopping malls across the capital to shut at 8pm every day of the week.

According to a late-night notification issued by the district magistrate of the Islamabad Capital Territory, restaurants, tandoors, grocery stores, bakeries, and meat, fruit and vegetable sellers will be allowed to remain open until 10pm.

The notification also said marriage halls, marquees and other commercial venues hosting festive events must close at 10pm. It added that the restriction would also cover events taking place on private premises.

The revised timings took effect from Monday and will remain in place until further orders, according to the notification.
