Trump in excellent health but advised to lose weight, White House doctor says

WASHINGTON: United States President Donald Trump is in excellent health but has been advised to lose weight, according to a medical memo released on Friday after the 79-year-old underwent a routine check-up.

The three-page memo was issued by Trump’s physician, US Navy Captain Sean Barbabella, following physical examination and diagnostic testing carried out on Tuesday at Walter Reed Medical Hospital near Washington. Barbabella said Trump remained in strong condition overall.

Barbabella also said Trump was fully capable of performing the responsibilities of office.

Preventative counseling was provided, including guidance on diet, recommendation to take a low-dose aspirin, increased physical activity, and continued weight loss.
He added that Trump was
fully fit to carry out all duties of the Commander-in-Chief and Head of State
.

According to the memo, Trump, who turns 80 next month, is taking three medications. Two are for cholesterol control, while the third is aspirin for cardiac prevention.
