DERA GHAZI KHAN: An 18-year-old boy died after drowning in a tubewell pool in the Saddar police station area on Saturday, according to rescue officials.

The incident took place near Kot Haibat School on Taunsa Road, where the teenager was bathing in the pool when he went under water. Local residents noticed that he had become unconscious, pulled him out and alerted Rescue 1122.

Rescue officials said the control room sent an ambulance from the nearby Taunsa Bypass point, and the team reached the location within 10 minutes. However, the boy had already died by the time rescuers arrived.

Family identified victim

Rescue sources said the deceased was identified as Siraj, son of Mushtaq. Family members told rescue personnel that Siraj was an epilepsy patient and had apparently suffered a seizure while bathing, which led to the drowning.

At the request of the family, the body was shifted to their home in Basti Ismailwala, Kot Haibat.

Police informed

Police were informed about the incident, while further action was being completed in line with legal requirements.

The death occurred in the jurisdiction of Saddar police station in Dera Ghazi Khan. Rescue officials said the emergency response was initiated immediately after the call was received, but the teenager could not be revived.

The case was reported as a drowning incident linked by family members to a reported epileptic seizure during bathing.
