Inter-Madaris Sports Festival begins in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: The Inter-Madaris Sports Festival got under way in Peshawar on Friday under the auspices of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Directorate of Sports, bringing together teams from religious seminaries for football and cricket competitions.

According to the details shared in the report, the festival includes eight teams drawn from different madaris. Four teams are taking part in the football event, while another four are competing in cricket during the tournament.

Football fixtures are being held at the Tahmash Khan Football Stadium, while cricket matches are being staged at the Gymkhana Cricket Stadium.

Opening ceremony held in Peshawar

The formal opening of the festival was carried out by Hayatabad Sports Complex Director Salim Raza. He was joined at the inauguration by Director Sports Operations Jamshid Baloch, Organizing Secretary Mufti Faiz, Deputy Director Kashif Farhan, DSO Faisal Javed, Administrator Yusuf Afridi, Arshad Khan and other participants associated with the event.

The sports festival has been arranged by the provincial sports directorate as part of its activities in Peshawar. Mufti Faiz is serving as the organizing secretary of the event, overseeing arrangements linked to the competition.

Facilities provided to participating players

The players taking part in the festival have been given kits, daily allowances and other required facilities during the course of the event. The arrangements cover both sets of participants involved in football and cricket matches.

The event is set to conclude at the Tahmash Khan Football Stadium, where the closing ceremony will also be held. Director General Sports Tashfeen Haider is expected to attend as the chief guest on that occasion.

At the concluding ceremony, trophies and prizes will be distributed among the winning players, according to the event plan outlined by the organisers.

The festival marks a sports initiative focused on madaris teams in the provincial capital, with matches spread across two venues and administrative support provided by officials of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa sports department.
