Putin's 25th China visit to further deepen strategic coordination amid global uncertainty
China says Vladimir Putin’s upcoming 25th state visit will deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination with Xi Jinping, expanding cooperation in energy, trade and finance amid global uncertainty.

BEIJING: China has said that Russian President Vladimir Putin’s upcoming state visit will further elevate the comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination between the two countries and inject greater stability into an increasingly turbulent global order.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said on Monday that President Xi Jinping and President Vladimir Putin will exchange in-depth views on bilateral relations, practical cooperation across multiple sectors, and major international and regional issues of shared concern during the visit.
According to Chinese official sources, this will be President Putin’s 25th visit to China, reflecting what Beijing describes as the “high level of political mutual trust and strategic coordination” between the two countries. The visit is being held at the invitation of President Xi Jinping.
Guo said that under the strategic guidance of both heads of state in recent years, China-Russia relations have maintained “healthy, stable and in-depth development,” with expanded cooperation in energy, trade, infrastructure, finance, and people-to-people exchanges.
Chinese media reports emphasize that the two leaders are expected to use the visit to further consolidate the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership for a new era. Officials said the discussions will aim to strengthen long-term policy coordination and expand cooperation mechanisms across government and economic institutions.
Beijing described the relationship as an important stabilising factor in global affairs, noting that both sides “oppose unilateralism and power politics” and advocate a multipolar international system based on greater balance and inclusivity.
State media commentary highlighted that practical cooperation remains a central pillar of the relationship. Key areas expected to feature in discussions include energy supply chains, industrial cooperation, cross-border trade, transport connectivity, and financial settlement mechanisms.
Chinese sources also underscored the importance of expanding trade in national currencies and improving resilience in supply chains amid global economic uncertainty.
Officials noted that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the China-Russia strategic partnership of coordination and the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation.
Chinese commentators said these milestones provide a historical opportunity to “deepen strategic trust and inject new momentum” into bilateral relations, while reinforcing cooperation frameworks established over three decades.
Beijing reiterated that China and Russia, as permanent members of the UN Security Council, share responsibilities in safeguarding international peace and stability. Officials said both sides will continue coordinating positions on major global issues, including regional security challenges and international governance reforms.
The Foreign Ministry added that further details of the visit will be released in due course, urging observers to “stay tuned” for additional updates.
