Bjorn Borg’s Pakistan visit postponed due to personal circumstances
The Pakistan Tennis Federation says Bjorn Borg’s visit to Pakistan has been postponed due to urgent personal circumstances. The federation said the tournament will continue, with Pakistan having won the doubles title and Muhammad Shoaib reaching the singles final.

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) has announced that former world number one Bjorn Borg’s planned visit to Pakistan has been postponed because of urgent personal circumstances.
In a statement, the federation said it regretted to inform the public that the visit of the tennis great had been delayed as he needed to be present elsewhere immediately. According to the PTF, Borg had conveyed that he was unable to travel at this time.
"The Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) regrets to inform that the visit of former World No. 1 and tennis legend, Björn Borg, has been postponed due to urgent personal circumstances requiring his immediate presence elsewhere," the statement said.
The federation said it understood and respected his situation. Despite the postponement of Borg’s visit, the tournament and all scheduled activities would go ahead as planned.
Tournament to continue
The PTF said the event would continue in full spirit and highlighted the performances of Pakistani players during the competition. The country had already secured success in the doubles event, with Pakistani players winning the title.
The federation also pointed to the progress of Muhammad Shoaib, describing him as one of Pakistan’s rising players. According to the PTF, Shoaib has reached the singles final, which it called a notable achievement for the country after a gap of 20 years in an ITF Futures event.
The statement said the performances of national players had been outstanding and urged tennis supporters to continue backing the team and players participating in the event.
The PTF also encouraged fans to attend and support the players as they continue their campaign. The federation said the players’ results had brought pride to the country and reflected strong performances on court.
Borg, one of the most celebrated names in international tennis, had been expected to visit Pakistan, but the federation’s statement made clear that the postponement was linked solely to his personal circumstances and not to the continuation of the tournament itself.
With the event still under way, attention has now shifted to the remaining matches, particularly the singles final featuring Muhammad Shoaib, as Pakistan looks to build on its doubles triumph and sustain its momentum in the competition.
