ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly of Pakistan on Monday unanimously passed a resolution paying tribute to Pakistan’s armed forces for their “befitting response” to what it described as India’s unprovoked aggression during last year’s military conflict between the two countries.

The confrontation, which began following the April 22 Pahalgam attack and concluded with a ceasefire on May 10 after Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, has officially been termed “Marka-i-Haq” (Battle of Truth) by the state.

The resolution was moved in the house by Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar and received unanimous approval from lawmakers.

The resolution stated that the National Assembly paid “rich tributes to the gallant armed forces of Pakistan” for defending the country against aggression under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.

According to the resolution, Pakistan launched Operation Bunyanum Marsoos on May 10, 2025, delivering what lawmakers termed a decisive and effective response to Indian military actions.

The assembly condemned what it described as a “malicious campaign” by the Indian government and its media following the Pahalgam incident in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, alleging that Pakistan was blamed without evidence or investigation despite Islamabad’s condemnation of the attack.

The resolution further stated that despite Pakistan’s offer for a neutral and transparent international investigation into the incident, India proceeded with airstrikes on Pakistan on May 6, 2025, allegedly targeting civilians.

The National Assembly commended the “bravery and operational excellence” of the Pakistan Air Force, claiming it swiftly established air superiority and shot down several Indian aircraft, including Rafale fighter jets.

It also praised the armed forces personnel across all services for what it termed courage, professionalism and sacrifice in making Operation Bunyanum Marsoos successful.

The resolution claimed that Pakistan’s military destroyed an Indian brigade headquarters and BrahMos missile facilities allegedly used against Pakistan, while JF-17 Thunder fighter jets destroyed India’s S-400 air defence system.

The house also lauded the Pakistan Navy for its strategic preparedness and for thwarting alleged attempts to target Pakistan through maritime routes.

Lawmakers honoured the martyrs of the armed forces for sacrificing their lives and stated that Pakistan had inflicted a “humiliating defeat” on a numerically superior adversary across land, air, sea, and cyber domains.

The resolution additionally acknowledged the role of Pakistan’s cyber warfare experts in countering cyber-attacks allegedly carried out by Indian hackers and claimed that several Indian strategic systems had been rendered dysfunctional in response.

The National Assembly also appreciated the support shown by the Pakistani public and elected representatives from both treasury and opposition benches during the conflict.

Warning India against any future escalation, the house declared that Pakistan’s desire for peace should not be interpreted as weakness.

“Any misadventure against Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity will not be tolerated and Pakistan’s defence forces will hit back with all their might and main,” the resolution stated.

The assembly reaffirmed the nation’s resolve to stand united with the armed forces in defending Pakistan’s geographical and ideological frontiers under all circumstances.
