The stretch from Rawalpindi Kutchery Chowk to Rekhi Din area has been named “Marka-e-Haq Square”, where prayers were offered after the unveiling of the commemorative plaque.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also visited the signal-free corridor, inspected the overhead bridge and adjoining roads, and reviewed the project from Annexy Chowk to GPO Chowk.
Provincial Minister for Communications and Works Malik Sohaib Ahmad Bharth gave a detailed briefing on the project.
According to the briefing, more than 200,000 vehicles will be able to pass daily through the signal-free corridor in Rawalpindi’s busiest and most congested areas, significantly improving traffic flow.

The project also includes the city’s first state-of-the-art pedestrian bridge at Marka-e-Haq Square.
Officials informed the chief minister that two phases of the Rawat-to-Motorway signal-free corridor have already been completed, while work on the third phase is nearing completion.
Underpasses will also be constructed at Race Course, Chairing Cross and AFIC Chowk as part of the broader traffic management plan.
A 25-kilometre-long signal-free corridor is being developed from Rawat to the motorway, comprising a total of nine underpasses and three flyovers.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said the signal-free corridor would transform Rawalpindi’s urban culture and significantly improve commuting for citizens.

“Those who devote themselves to serving their mothers succeed in this world and the hereafter,” she added.
