100 commandos inducted into Islamabad Police’s Delta Force

ISLAMABAD: A passing-out parade for the Islamabad Police’s Delta Force was held at the Police Lines Headquarters in the federal capital on Wednesday, where 100 personnel formally joined the newly trained unit.

Speaking at the ceremony, Inspector General of Police Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi said the force is part of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Islamabad and has been established to help secure the capital, deter terrorists, and safeguard the lives, property and dignity of citizens.

He praised the training imparted to the special unit and said both male and female officers are included in the force.

Composition of the new unit

The IGP said that the 100 personnel passing out on Wednesday included 50 commandos from the Special Services Group and 50 from the Counter Terrorism Department Islamabad.

He said the Delta Force would play an important role in protecting residents of the federal capital and confronting hostile elements.

According to the IGP, the newly inducted personnel are expected to strengthen Islamabad Police’s operational capacity in the fight against terrorism.

Tribute to fallen personnel

During his address, Rizvi also paid tribute to Islamabad Police personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty.

He said 69 personnel of Islamabad Police had sacrificed their lives for the protection of the country, adding that the force’s courage and sacrifices in the fight against terrorism would not be forgotten.

The ceremony marked the formal completion of training for the latest batch of Delta Force personnel, with police leadership expressing confidence that the unit would contribute to security efforts in Islamabad.

Rizvi said the Delta Force would make its mark and work to protect the people of the federal capital.
