YDA Balochistan opposes move to form cabinet without elections
YDA Balochistan has objected to what it described as efforts to form the provincial cabinet through closed-door consultations. The association said only fair and transparent elections could produce a legitimate cabinet representing doctors.

QUETTA: The Young Doctors Association (YDA) Balochistan has voiced concern over what it said were fresh attempts by some quarters to put together the provincial cabinet through closed-door consultations instead of an electoral process.
In a statement, a spokesperson for YDA Balochistan said such a course could deepen divisions within the medical community and undermine the organisation.
The association said the only acceptable method for constituting a provincial cabinet was through fair and transparent elections. It alleged that a self-styled consultative council, along with certain individuals, was trying to shape the cabinet on the basis of personal choice and monopoly rather than democratic procedures.
According to the statement, any provincial cabinet announced without elections would not be recognised by the association and would have no legitimacy. YDA Balochistan said only a cabinet chosen through a transparent voting process could genuinely represent the doctors’ community.
Warning against non-democratic steps
The statement said non-democratic practices could damage both the doctors’ community and patients. Responsibility for any harm caused to the organisation would lie with those involved in such actions.
The association also urged members of the medical community to stay united, resist what it described as non-democratic measures, and press for transparent elections in which all members have an equal chance to take part. Only a cabinet elected through a transparent voting process would truly represent the doctors’ community.
YDA Balochistan’s statement centred on its demand that the provincial cabinet be formed through an open and democratic process rather than through what it described as backroom arrangements.
It maintained that any departure from elections would weaken the representative character of the body and could create further rifts among doctors in the province.
The association reiterated that transparent elections were the sole legitimate route for selecting the provincial cabinet and called on doctors to oppose any attempt to bypass that process.
The statement was published on May 5, 2026.
