Trump warns Iran of overwhelming response if US vessels are attacked

Washington: US President Donald Trump said on Monday that Iran would face devastating consequences if it attacked American vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.

Speaking in an interview with Fox News, Trump issued a direct warning to Tehran, saying the country would be blown off the face of the Earth if US ships operating in the waterway came under attack.

He also said the United States was now better prepared militarily than before, pointing to what he described as stronger capabilities and a larger stockpile of weapons and ammunition.

We have more weapons and ammunition at a much higher grade than we had before.

Trump said during the interview, while stressing what he presented as the strength of the US military.

We have the best equipment. We have stuff all over the world. We have these bases all over the world. They’re all stocked up with equipment. We can use all of that stuff, and we will, if we need it.

he added.

The remarks came in the context of tensions linked to the Strait of Hormuz, a strategically important maritime route. In the interview aired by Fox News on Monday, Trump’s comments focused specifically on the possibility of attacks on US vessels in that area.

A Fox News post on X also said Trump told correspondent Trey Yingst that Iran had become much more malleable in talks.

Trump’s latest comments were made in a televised interview rather than in a formal written statement. In that exchange, he repeatedly underscored US military reach, referring to American bases around the world and saying they were equipped and ready for use if required.
