PM Shehbaz offers condolences to Turkiye over deadly floods

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday conveyed profound sorrow over the loss of life caused by what he described as “devastating floods and extreme weather disturbances” in Turkiye, offering condolences to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the Turkish nation.

In a message shared on X, the prime minister said he was extending sympathies on behalf of the people and government of Pakistan, as well as in his personal capacity, to President Erdogan and the people of Turkiye.

He noted that the floods and severe weather had impacted the provinces of Gaziantep, Sanliurfa and Adiyaman, along with nearby areas, causing significant loss of life and damage to property.

Reiterating Pakistan’s support, the prime minister said the country stood in complete solidarity with the people of Turkiye during this period of mourning.

He added that Pakistan’s thoughts and prayers were with the bereaved families and all those affected by the disaster, and affirmed that Islamabad was prepared to provide humanitarian and material assistance to support ongoing relief and recovery efforts.
