Pakistani mountaineer Sajid Ali Sadpara has summited Mount Makalu in Nepal, the world’s fifth-highest peak. The climb marks his 10th ascent of a mountain above 8,000 metres.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistani mountaineer Sajid Ali Sadpara on Saturday reached the summit of Mount Makalu, the world’s fifth-highest mountain, adding another major achievement to his high-altitude climbing career.
According to details, Sajid reached the top of the mountain at around 5am. Mount Makalu, located in Nepal, rises 8,485 metres above sea level.
The ascent marked Sajid’s 10th successful climb of a mountain higher than 8,000 metres, further reinforcing his standing among Pakistan’s leading high-altitude climbers.
Makalu lies in the Mahalangur Himalayas, about 19 kilometres southeast of Mount Everest, on the China-Nepal border. The peak is regarded as one of the most difficult in the world because of its steep ridgelines, challenging terrain and severe weather conditions encountered by climbers during expeditions.
Alpine Club of Pakistan congratulates climber
The Alpine Club of Pakistan congratulated Sajid on what it described as his remarkable and successful summit of Mount Makalu.
In a statement, Alpine Club of Pakistan President Maj Gen (retd) Irfan Arshad, along with other members of the club, extended congratulations to Sajid and called the achievement a matter of pride for the country.
The statement said that reaching the top of one of the world’s most technically demanding mountains reflected Sajid’s courage, resolve and mountaineering ability.
This outstanding achievement is not only a personal milestone but also a proud moment for the entire Pakistani mountaineering community.
The club said Sajid’s success would encourage young climbers in Pakistan and help strengthen the country’s profile in international mountaineering.
ACP Vice President Karrar Haidri also congratulated Sajid on the successful ascent and wished him a safe descent as well as continued success in future expeditions.
A notable milestone in high-altitude climbing
Sajid’s latest summit adds to his record in climbing some of the world’s tallest mountains. With Makalu now added to his list, he has completed 10 ascents of peaks above 8,000 metres.
The successful climb is being seen as another important moment for Pakistani mountaineering, particularly because Makalu is widely known for the technical demands it places on climbers. Its location, terrain and weather have made it one of the more formidable challenges among the world’s highest peaks.
The latest achievement drew praise from the country’s mountaineering community, with the Alpine Club of Pakistan highlighting both the personal significance of the summit for Sajid and its wider importance for Pakistan’s presence in the sport.
