Mr Wahab said K-Electric was responsible not only for supplying electricity to Karachi but also to some parts of Balochistan, describing it as a major responsibility. He said KMC and the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation were fully ready to provide all possible support for projects aimed at producing and supplying affordable electricity.

K-Electric announces heatwave measures
Separately, K-Electric said it would halt preventive maintenance shutdowns and suspend economic loadshedding in view of the heatwave affecting Karachi.
K-Electric spokesperson Imran Rana said the utility was in contact with its suppliers as electricity demand rises during the hot weather to ensure supply remains at par. "As power demand escalates, KE is ready and committed to ensuring sustainable supply of electricity to Karachi. Our field teams remain on alert to ensure swiftest possible restoration of faults. However, we also urge the public to closely monitor the prevailing conditions and adhere to heatwave standard operating procedures," he said.
The announcement came as the city faces increased electricity demand during the ongoing heatwave.
The meeting and the utility’s operational measures together highlighted a focus on maintaining supply, improving transmission and advancing lower-cost and cleaner energy options in Karachi.
