PCB confirms prize money for PSL 11 finalists

Lahore: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Saturday announced the prize allocations for the franchises due to meet in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 final at Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday.

According to the board, the champions will receive $500,000, while the runners-up will be awarded $300,000. The PCB also said it has set aside $200,000 for the franchise judged to have made the best player development efforts.

The board further stated that the tournament-winning prize for players will total $500,000.

In a statement, the PCB said, "For the first time in the history of the PSL, a separate reward has been set for the franchises with the winning franchise getting $500,000, runners up will get $300,000, while the franchise with the best player development efforts will bag $200,000. The tournament winning prize for players will comprise of $500,000."

The announcement follows PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi’s statement in November last year, when he unveiled a new rewards structure for franchises and linked it to the continued growth of the league.

Finalists confirmed for title clash

The PSL 11 final will be played between 2017 champions Peshawar Zalmi and tournament newcomers Hyderabad Kingsmen.

Zalmi secured their place in the final by defeating Islamabad United by 70 runs in the Qualifier. Hyderabad Kingsmen, who ended the league stage in fourth place, advanced to the title match after beating Multan Sultans and then Islamabad United in the two eliminators.

The two teams have already met once in the league phase of the ongoing eight-team competition. On that occasion, Peshawar Zalmi won by four wickets in a last-ball finish.

The PCB’s confirmation of the prize structure adds further detail ahead of the final in Lahore, where both the title and the newly announced franchise rewards will be in focus.

The board’s statement made clear that this is the first time the PSL has introduced a separate reward system for franchises alongside the players’ tournament-winning prize, marking a change in how financial incentives are distributed in the competition.

With the final now set, the title decider will bring together an established PSL side in Peshawar Zalmi and a debutant team in Hyderabad Kingsmen, who reached the summit clash after coming through the knockout stage.
