Rs600,000 greed: Man murders, chops mother-in-law over cash row

LAHORE: A gruesome murder has come to light in Arifwala, where police have arrested a man accused of killing and dismembering his mother-in-law over a financial dispute involving Rs600,000.

The suspect, Ikram, had been living with his mother-in-law, Bushra Bibi. According to investigators, the conflict began after she sold a buffalo for Rs600,000. Police say Ikram repeatedly demanded the money, but when she refused, he killed her.

In an attempt to conceal the crime, he allegedly dismembered the body, placed the remains in a trunk, and buried them in nearby fields. At the time of the incident, his wife was not present at home and was working in the fields.

Following the killing, Ikram reportedly staged a disappearance, leading to a kidnapping case being registered. However, suspicion eventually fell on him, and during interrogation, he confessed.

Police stated that the suspect admitted to both the murder and taking the money. Acting on his confession, authorities recovered the remains from the burial site. The body has been sent for legal formalities, while further proceedings are underway.
