IHC fixes Imran, Bushra appeals in £190m case for April 30

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court has scheduled for April 30 the appeals filed by former prime minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi against their convictions in the £190 million corruption reference.

According to a supplementary cause list issued by the registrar’s office, a division bench comprising Chief Justice Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar and Justice Muhammad Asif will hear Criminal Appeal No. 63/2025, filed by Imran Khan, and Criminal Appeal No. 64/2025, filed by Bushra Bibi, on Thursday.

Both appeals contest the convictions handed down under the Pakistan Penal Code in a case in which the sentences exceed seven years.

The cause list also stated that miscellaneous applications are pending before the court. These include pleas seeking suspension of sentence as well as objections linked to the matter.

Bench had earlier outlined timeline

The listing comes a day after the same bench took up separate petitions seeking suspension of sentence in the £190m corruption reference.

During those proceedings, the bench indicated a structured timeline for wrapping up arguments in the main case.

The latest development means the court is now set to hear the main appeals of both Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi against their convictions in the reference.

The supplementary cause list specifically named the two appeals and identified the bench that will hear them. It also noted that the related miscellaneous applications, including those concerning suspension of sentence, remain before the court alongside the objections.

The case concerns the £190 million corruption reference, in which both appellants have challenged the trial court’s decision before the Islamabad High Court.

With the matter now fixed for hearing, the division bench led by the IHC chief justice is expected to take up both appeals together on April 30.

The development follows the court’s proceedings a day earlier, when the same bench had already signalled a plan for concluding arguments in an orderly manner in the main matter.

No further details were provided in the supplementary cause list beyond the scheduling of the appeals, the composition of the bench, the appeal numbers, and the pendency of the miscellaneous applications and objections.
