Balochistan reviews reward policy for most-wanted terrorists

ISLAMABAD: The Balochistan government has moved to tighten its strategy for improving the law and order situation and pursuing the elimination of terrorism, with a high-level meeting reviewing the policy for rewards linked to the arrest of most-wanted militants and criminal suspects.

The meeting was chaired by Balochistan Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Langov. Provincial Education Minister Raheela Durrani also attended, while DIG CTD Aitzaz Goraya and senior Home Department officials briefed participants on security operations under way across the province, including intelligence-based actions and the broader campaign against militants.

According to officials, the revised reward policy is intended to strengthen the performance of security institutions and encourage members of the public to share information about terrorists and criminal elements. They said public cooperation would help authorities improve crime control efforts.

Langov said the provincial government was deploying all available means to improve security conditions.

He instructed the relevant authorities to ensure implementation of government decisions, improve coordination among law enforcement bodies, and speed up targeted intelligence-based operations.

Coordinated strategy discussed

Participants agreed on the need for a coordinated and broad-based approach against terrorism and organised crime. Officials said the strategy would include making the reward mechanism more effective, starting public awareness efforts, and providing security forces with modern equipment and resources.

They added that lists of wanted militants are being updated under the reward policy and that significant rewards would be fixed for their arrest as part of efforts to break up criminal networks.

The briefing presented during the meeting covered ongoing operations in the province and the steps being taken by the authorities in the campaign against terrorism. The discussion focused on how the reward framework could be used more effectively alongside intelligence-led operations and inter-agency coordination.

Officials maintained that the policy review was part of the provincial government’s wider effort to restore order and deal with militant and criminal activity through a combination of enforcement measures and public participation.

The meeting concluded with a resolve to pursue the policy through coordinated implementation and to continue strengthening the province’s response to terrorism and organised crime.
