FIA brings back four proclaimed offenders from UAE to Lahore

LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency has repatriated four proclaimed offenders from the United Arab Emirates in connection with murder and fraud cases, according to an FIA statement.

The agency said the suspects — Abdullah, Adil, Muhammad Adnan and Shah Faisal — were arrested with the assistance of NCB Interpol. The four men had been apprehended in Abu Dhabi and were later brought to Lahore.

“The accused were apprehended in Abu Dhabi and were brought back here. They were wanted by Punjab Police and were involved in cases registered in Faisalabad and Sargodha under charges of murder and fraud,” the FIA said.

According to the agency, the four men were wanted by Punjab Police in cases lodged in Faisalabad and Sargodha. The FIA said its NCB Interpol wing had earlier secured Red Notices for their arrest.

After their arrival in Lahore, the suspects were handed over to Punjab Police by FIA Immigration, Lahore, the statement said.

The FIA also said the return of the four accused was carried out through coordination between Pakistani and Emirati authorities. “Their extradition was made possible through close coordination between Interpol Islamabad and Interpol Abu Dhabi,” it said.

Interpol coordination

The agency said the operation was conducted by the FIA with support from NCB Interpol. The arrests in Abu Dhabi followed the issuance of Red Notices by FIA NCB Interpol.

The statement said the suspects were being sought by Punjab Police and that the cases against them relate to allegations of murder and fraud. It did not provide further details of the individual cases in the statement.

Officials said the men were transferred to the custody of Punjab Police after landing in Lahore. The handover was completed by FIA Immigration authorities at Lahore.

The FIA described the repatriation as the result of cooperation between Interpol Islamabad and Interpol Abu Dhabi, saying that coordination between the two offices enabled the suspects’ return to Pakistan.

No additional details were provided in the statement regarding the timing of the arrests in Abu Dhabi or the specific case histories of the four accused. The agency, however, confirmed that all four had been declared proclaimed offenders and were wanted in criminal cases registered in Punjab.
