FCC chief justice directs benches to speed up disposal of pending cases

ISLAMABAD: Federal Constitutional Court (FCC) Chief Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan on Monday directed all benches to adopt effective case management practices aimed at accelerating the disposal of cases and reducing the burden of pending litigation.

The direction was issued during a full-court meeting chaired by the chief justice, according to an official statement. All FCC judges attended the meeting along with Registrar Hafeezullah Khan.

The meeting reviewed a range of administrative and judicial matters focused on improving the court’s institutional performance, strengthening operational efficiency and reinforcing its commitment to timely justice.

According to the official statement, several decisions of strategic importance were taken during the session. Stressing the constitutional requirement of timely justice, Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan underlined the need for expeditious resolution of cases and instructed that efficient case management techniques be implemented across benches.

He said the purpose was to bring about a visible reduction in the backlog of cases and strengthen public confidence in the judicial system. The court also reaffirmed its commitment to issuing prompt decisions in order to preserve trust in the judicial framework and uphold constitutional order and discipline.

Administrative capacity and staff training

The meeting also examined ongoing capacity-building efforts within the institution. Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan appreciated the in-house training programmes being conducted for ministerial staff in grades 8 to 16, saying such initiatives were important for improving administrative capability and professional standards.

These training modules cover IT skills, workplace discipline and office ethics, which the court described as essential elements in building a modern, efficient and accountable institutional structure.

The chief justice said continuous professional development of staff was indispensable for ensuring administrative excellence and institutional integrity.

Commitment to transparency and professionalism

Reaffirming the FCC’s commitment to transparency, efficiency and adherence to constitutional principles, Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan emphasised the need to maintain the highest standards of professionalism and accountability at every level.

The court reiterated that it remained committed to upholding the rule of law and ensuring the effective, transparent and timely delivery of justice. The objective, he noted, is to ensure a visible reduction in the backlog of cases and enhance public confidence in the judicial system.
