Forget dhol walay, dancing gorillas are the new wedding hype
A Lahori business is turning events upside down with men in gorilla costumes delivering high-energy dance sets for weddings, birthdays and parties

Pakistan’s event scene just got… wildly unexpected. A local service, Gorilla.co.pk, is now offering dancing gorillas for weddings, birthdays and parties — and yes, it’s exactly what it sounds like.
Men in full gorilla costumes. On the dance floor. Going absolutely feral.
Videos from recent events show these “gorillas” breaking into high-energy dance moves, chest-thumping, hyping up crowds, and basically turning every function into something between a rave and a wildlife documentary. And honestly? People are loving it.
One of their ad captions has already become a meme: “Do ghantay extra mazdoori kar lena lekin shadi main ye gorilla zarur hona chahiye.” Translation: grind harder if you must — but make sure the gorilla shows up.
The comments section is somehow even better than the videos.
“So much effort required, hats off to you guys for wearing these costumes” — because someone finally acknowledged the real struggle: surviving Lahore heat inside a gorilla suit.
“Costume dedo, groom khud karega dance” — budget-friendly solution unlocked.
“Meri shaadi pe aajogay?” — straight to booking mode.
Then came pure chaos: “Sirf gorilla chahiyen hongay 5-10… jo bacha dikey usko utha ke phenk ana bahir.” Unhinged. Completely unhinged. But yes, kids can be a nuisance at weddings sometimes.
“Jo business kholne ka sochta hun competitor samne aa jata hai” — entrepreneurial dreams, crushed instantly.
“Do you do funerals?” — someone always takes it too far.
“Meri shaadi tak intezar karlo, ye dhandaa band mat karna” — long-term planning, respect.
The whole trend feels oddly familiar — and that’s because it is. It’s likely inspired by the viral internet sensation Zola the breakdancing gorilla, a costumed performer whose wild dance clips blew up online for their unexpectedly smooth moves and chaotic energy. That same energy has now landed in desi weddings — and it fits perfectly.
Because if there’s one thing Pakistani weddings don’t believe in, it’s subtlety. So between the dhol, the lights, the cousins doing bhangra — there’s now a gorilla in the middle… stealing the entire show. And honestly, at this point, if your wedding doesn’t have one?
You might be underdressed.
