Fire at Rawalpindi toy warehouse brought under control

RAWALPINDI: A fire that broke out in a toy warehouse on Railway Workshop Road in Rawalpindi was brought under control by Rescue 1122 after a firefighting operation, authorities said.

The blaze was reported in a toy warehouse located on the fourth floor of a five-storey plaza on Railway Workshop Road. Rescue 1122 responded by sending at least 30 rescuers and firefighters to the site along with 11 fire and emergency vehicles.

The firefighting teams managed to contain the blaze and stopped it from spreading further in the building. Authorities said two floors of the plaza were affected by the fire.

No casualties were reported in the incident.

After the flames were extinguished, Rescue 1122 personnel began the cooling process at the site to prevent the fire from reigniting.

Initial cause identified

Rawalpindi Rescue 1122 District Emergency Officer Sibghatullah said the fire had erupted because of a short circuit.

The incident took place in a commercial building on a busy road in Rawalpindi, prompting an emergency response aimed at containing the damage and securing the structure after the blaze was controlled.

Officials said the operation focused on preventing the fire from moving beyond the affected sections of the plaza. The deployment of multiple fire and emergency vehicles, along with dozens of rescuers, helped bring the situation under control.

Following the main firefighting effort, teams remained engaged in cooling work, which is typically carried out after a blaze is extinguished to reduce residual heat and avoid any fresh flare-up. Authorities confirmed that this process had started after the fire was controlled.

The warehouse where the fire broke out was being used to store toys. The affected premises were situated on the fourth floor, while the fire impacted two floors of the five-storey building.

Rescue officials did not report any injuries or deaths, and the emergency response concluded with the fire contained and cooling measures under way.
