Bride slaughtered at salon hours before wedding, killer attempts suicide

A young bride was killed in a knife attack at a beauty parlor in Lodhran shortly before her wedding ceremony, according to initial police reports.

The victim had reportedly gone to the parlor to prepare for her wedding when the suspect, identified as her cousin, Mudassar Mehboob, allegedly entered the premises near Mirza Nasir Baig’s petrol pump. Reports indicate that the bride was getting ready after the arrival of the wedding procession when the accused allegedly held her hostage and attacked her with a knife, killing her at the scene.

Authorities said the suspect later attempted to harm himself with the same weapon. He was critically injured and first shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital before being referred elsewhere for further treatment because of his condition.

Police said a case has been registered on the complaint of the victim’s father, Sarfraz Ali. The injured suspect, along with his father Sheikh Mehboob and two unidentified individuals, has been nominated in the case.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the area, turning what was meant to be a day of celebration into one of grief. Police say the investigation is ongoing and that all aspects of the case are being examined.
