Quetta Gladiators hold Lahore Qalandars to 140-8 in PSL 11 match

KARACHI: Quetta Gladiators kept Lahore Qalandars to 140-8 in their Pakistan Super League season 11 match at the National Bank Stadium on Thursday after a disciplined bowling display led by Usman Tariq and Jahandad Khan.

Lahore, who had opted to bat first, struggled to build momentum through the innings as Quetta’s bowlers struck regularly and prevented the Qalandars from posting a bigger total in the 26th match of the tournament.

Usman Tariq and Jahandad Khan claimed three wickets each for Quetta. Their spells put Lahore under pressure for much of the innings and limited the batting side to a modest total.

Lahore’s innings was anchored by Sikandar Raza, who top-scored with 52. His knock helped the Qalandars recover after setbacks, but the side was unable to accelerate enough in the closing stages to push the total beyond 140.

Besides Raza, no Lahore batter was able to make a major contribution substantial enough to shift the balance of the innings. Quetta’s bowlers maintained control and ensured that partnerships did not develop into match-defining stands.

The match was played at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi, where Lahore Qalandars had won the toss and chosen to bat first against Quetta Gladiators.

Quetta bowlers set the tone

Quetta’s attack delivered the breakthroughs needed to keep Lahore in check from one phase of the innings to the next. Usman Tariq and Jahandad Khan were the standout performers with the ball, taking three wickets apiece and playing the central role in restricting the Qalandars.

Their effort left Quetta chasing 141 for victory.

Lahore face another batting test

Lahore entered the contest looking to put together a stronger batting performance, but the innings again exposed difficulties in converting starts into a commanding total. Sikandar Raza’s half-century provided resistance, yet Quetta’s bowlers remained effective enough to stop Lahore from taking full advantage after choosing to bat.

The total of 140-8 was a modest one in the context of the contest, with Quetta’s bowling unit doing most of the damage through Usman Tariq and Jahandad Khan.

The game formed part of the PSL 11 schedule, with both teams meeting in Karachi in a key league-stage fixture.
