ABBOTTABAD: Ayub Teaching Hospital has installed four modern water filtration plants and set up four tuck shops at different locations within the hospital to improve facilities for patients and their attendants.
The filtration plants have been established to supply safe and clean drinking water to patients, their family members and hospital staff living in hostels. The move addresses a long-standing issue related to access to clean water at the hospital, according to Chairman Board of Governors Dr Abid Jamil.
Dr Jamil said the availability of clean drinking water had remained an unresolved problem for a long time and that the new filtration plants had been installed to overcome it. He said clean water is a basic human need and should be treated as a top priority in a major healthcare institution.
In addition to the water facilities, the hospital has also opened four tuck shops in separate areas of the premises. These outlets will provide essential items at reasonable prices, according to the hospital administration.
Dr Jamil said the tuck shops would make it easier for patients and attendants to obtain necessary items without having to leave the hospital. He said this would help save both time and energy for people already dealing with medical treatment and hospital stays.
The latest measures are aimed at improving convenience and basic services within the hospital environment. With the installation of the filtration plants, the hospital administration expects better access to quality drinking water for those receiving treatment, accompanying patients and residing in staff hostels.
The establishment of tuck shops is also intended to reduce the need for attendants and visitors to travel outside the hospital premises for everyday necessities. Hospital officials said the facilities have been introduced as part of efforts to improve the overall experience of patients and their families.
According to Dr Jamil, both initiatives are focused on addressing practical needs inside the hospital and ensuring that essential services are available on site. The hospital has linked the provision of clean water and access to basic goods with patient welfare and convenience.
New facilities introduced at hospital
The four filtration plants and four tuck shops have now been added to the hospital’s services. The filtration plants are meant to ensure the availability of safe water, while the tuck shops are expected to provide commonly needed items at affordable rates within the hospital premises.
