PCB bans Blessing Muzarabani from next two PSL editions
The PCB has declared Zimbabwe pacer Blessing Muzarabani ineligible for the next two PSL editions after he withdrew from PSL 2026 and joined IPL side Kolkata Knight Riders.

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has barred Zimbabwe fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani from taking part in the next two editions of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) after he withdrew from the tournament shortly before it was due to begin.
"Following a thorough disciplinary review, the PCB has announced that Zimbabwean cricketer Blessing Muzarabani is declared ineligible to participate in the next two (2) editions of the PSL, effective immediately," the baord said in a statement.
Muzarabani had originally been set to represent Islamabad United in PSL 2026. However, he later pulled out after being signed by Indian Premier League franchise Kolkata Knight Riders.
The PCB said the action was taken in line with its position on professional standards and the importance of honouring commitments made within the league. According to the board, the matter related to what it described as a failure to uphold agreed terms.
The board said professional cricket depends on trust and certainty in agreements between players and franchises. "In this instance, despite a clear offer and an unequivocal acceptance of essential terms, the player chose to disregard these obligations in favour of a conflicting arrangement," the statement read.
According to the PCB, once key terms such as remuneration and structure are settled through written correspondence, a binding obligation comes into effect. It said that stepping away from such commitments without valid cause amounts to a breach of contractual obligations and the principles of good faith that apply in professional sport.
PCB cites professionalism and transparency
The cricket board also said franchise-based leagues require players and other participants to act with consistency and openness in their dealings. It said entering into another engagement while an earlier binding agreement remains in place falls short of the standards expected in the game.
"Professionalism in franchise-based leagues requires participants to act with transparency and consistency. Entering into a conflicting engagement while a prior binding agreement subsists represents a departure from the expected standards of the game. Such conduct, if left unaddressed, erodes the reliability of dealings and the confidence that franchises, regulators, and stakeholders place in professional engagements," the PCB said.
The development comes after other overseas players also withdrew from the PSL and joined the IPL. Earlier, Sri Lanka’s Dasun Shanaka and Australia’s Spensor Johnson had also pulled out of the PSL and moved to the Indian league.
The PCB’s latest decision means Muzarabani will not be eligible for the next two PSL editions, with the ban taking effect immediately.
