Man injured in Bajaur mortar shell incident, another killed in separate shooting
A man was injured after a mortar shell struck a locality in Bajaur’s Salarzai tehsil on Sunday, officials said. In a separate incident, a 34-year-old man was shot dead by unidentified assailants near Sadiqabad Bazaar a day earlier.

BAJAUR: A man was injured after a mortar shell landed in a hilly area of Salarzai tehsil in Bajaur district on Sunday, while in a separate incident a man was shot dead by unidentified attackers in the district’s Sadiqabad area a day earlier.
Officials, citing local residents, said the mortar shell was fired from an unidentified location and hit the Saro Wano Okasheen locality on Sunday afternoon. The impact left an elderly man wounded.
Sikandar Zeb Khan, son of PTI MPA Anwar Zeb Khan, said in a social media post that the incident caused fear and panic among villagers. He added that the injured man was taken to the District Headquarters Hospital in Khar and was out of danger.
Official sources said an investigation had been launched into the mortar shell incident.
Separate shooting in Sadiqabad
In another incident in Bajaur, a man was killed by unidentified assailants in the Sadiqabad area on Saturday evening.
According to Rescue 1122 officials and residents, the deceased was identified as 34-year-old Ferozuddin. They said he was on his way home when attackers opened fire on him near Sadiqabad Bazaar.
Amjad Khan, the district emergency officer, said Ferozuddin was critically injured in the attack and died while being shifted to hospital.
The two incidents were reported separately, with officials providing initial details in the mortar shell case and Rescue 1122 officials and residents describing the circumstances of the shooting.
Authorities have begun looking into the mortar shell episode, according to official sources. No further details were provided in the report about the origin of the shell or the circumstances surrounding the separate fatal shooting beyond the accounts given by officials and residents.
