KARACHI: Police have arrested two alleged members of a group accused of carrying out thefts at educational institutions during the night and recovered a substantial amount of stolen equipment, including computers, from their possession.
According to details, the arrests were made by Gulshan-e-Iqbal police during a targeted operation launched based on intelligence information. The two suspects were identified as Jaan Sher, son of Rahim Zeb, and Musaddiq alias Musa, son of Hameed Hussain.
Police said the suspects were key members of a gang involved in breaking into schools and other educational institutions. The operation led to the recovery of equipment that had allegedly been stolen during those incidents.
According to the details shared by police, the suspects would first survey schools during the night. After carrying out reconnaissance, they would later return, hold security guards hostage, enter the institutions and remove valuable items.
The recovered material included computers among other equipment, police said.
The arrests were presented as part of action against a gang allegedly targeting educational facilities after dark. Police said the suspects had been involved in theft by breaking into institutions at night.
The case centres on burglaries at schools and other educational institutions, with investigators saying the accused used prior surveillance to identify targets before carrying out the thefts. The suspects were taken into custody after the intelligence-based operation in the Gulshan-e-Iqbal area.
Police have identified the two men by name and parentage in the case details released after the operation. The authorities also said the gang’s alleged activities involved overpowering or restraining guards before entering the premises and stealing expensive equipment.
