FIA says 10,619 passengers entered Pakistan through Taftan border since February 28

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency said it has kept immigration and border management arrangements active at the Taftan border amid the ongoing regional situation in Iran, with measures aimed at facilitating Pakistani citizens, students, pilgrims and other travellers returning from the neighbouring country.

According to an FIA spokesperson, security requirements are being fully implemented while necessary facilities are also being provided to passengers arriving through the Taftan crossing.

The spokesperson said that a total of 10,619 passengers entered Pakistan through the Taftan border between February 28 and April 8. The agency said a large number of those arriving were returning because of the current regional situation in Iran.

The incoming travellers included Pakistani citizens, students, pilgrims and other individuals, the spokesperson added.

Round-the-clock immigration operations

Director FIA Muhammad Behram Khan said immigration personnel were continuing to perform duties around the clock at the Taftan border.

The agency said its arrangements remained effective and active in view of the situation, as authorities continued to manage the flow of people entering the country through the border point.

The statement from the FIA focused on both border management and passenger facilitation, saying that while security protocols were being observed, services for those crossing into Pakistan were also being maintained.

The figures shared by the spokesperson cover the period from February 28 to April 8 and reflect the number of passengers recorded on entry through Taftan during that time.

The FIA statement did not distinguish the arrivals by category, but said the returnees included citizens, students, pilgrims and other travellers coming back from Iran.

Officials said the arrangements were in place at Taftan to handle the continued influx linked to the regional situation across the border.
