 Official and Military Response

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed grief over the loss of lives and deplored the damage to vital infrastructure, offering condolences to the families of the victims and reaffirming solidarity with the government and people of Saudi Arabia. The ministry described the attacks as “a serious violation of Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and a dangerous escalation that undermines regional peace and stability.”

The military leadership also condemned the strikes during the 274th Corps Commanders’ Conference (CCC), terming them an “unnecessary escalation” that could undermine ongoing mediation efforts.

Pakistan’s Role as Regional Mediator

Tensions in the Middle East escalated sharply after US and Israeli air strikes in February assassinated Iran’s then-supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and several senior officials, triggering retaliatory attacks by Tehran and widening the regional conflict. Iran subsequently launched strikes on US military bases across Gulf countries, expanding the confrontation.

In this context, Pakistan has emerged as a key mediator. The country hosted a quadrilateral foreign ministers’ meeting in Islamabad, including representatives from Turkiye, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt, which received global attention and praise for Pakistan’s proactive role in pursuing de-escalation and dialogue in the region.
