Shafi Jan terms initiative ‘lifeline’ for common citizens, saying registration opened through Dastak App
Reiterates focus on relief, pro-people policies, saying program targets Rs2,000 relief low-income commuters
PESHAWAR: Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Information and Public Relations Shafi Jan on Sunday announced the launch of the Ehsaas Fuel Support Program, a targeted relief initiative aimed at providing financial assistance to motorcycle and scooter owners across the province.
In a statement, he said the programme has been launched on the directive of Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi to ease the financial burden on daily commuters and low-income segments reliant on two-wheelers. Under the initiative, eligible owners will receive Rs2,000 in financial assistance.
He said a simple and transparent registration mechanism has been introduced through the Dastak App, enabling deserving individuals to register easily and benefit from the scheme.
Describing the programme as a pro-people welfare measure, Shafi Jan said it would serve as a lifeline for common citizens facing rising fuel costs.
He reiterated that providing relief to deserving and low-income groups remains the provincial government’s top priority, adding that such initiatives reflect the vision of founding chairman Imran Khan and will continue uninterrupted.
Criticising federal policies, he said “anti-people measures” are increasing hardships for the poor, while the provincial government is taking concrete steps to reduce the burden on underprivileged segments.
He reaffirmed the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s commitment to delivering relief at every level.
Check dam project launched to address water scarcity
Meanwhile, practical work has formally begun on a check dam in the Teen Talab area of Union Council Shah Pur, district Kohat, aimed at tackling water shortage and providing long-term relief to local residents.
Shafi Jan said the project is being executed with the support of former federal interior minister and MNA Shehryar Khan Afridi, fulfilling a long-standing demand of the community.
“The check dam will help store rainwater, ensuring availability during dry seasons,” he said, adding that the project would also boost agricultural output, improve groundwater levels and help control flood runoff.
Local residents welcomed the initiative, expressing hope that it would significantly ease water shortages and contribute to the area’s economic stability.
