According to a notification issued on Thursday, the process for fresh voter enrolments and the submission of data for draft electoral rolls, which started on March 24, will remain open until April 7.
The schedule also sets out the role of the National Database and Registration Authority in the exercise. Nadra is to complete the provision of preliminary electoral data by April 10. After that, the initial electoral rolls will be displayed for public inspection on April 13.
Claims and objections process
Under the announced plan, citizens will be able to submit claims for inclusion in the rolls, seek correction of entries, or file objections against names they consider irrelevant from April 13 to April 17. These applications will be received at designated offices.
The Election Commission has also fixed dates for the disposal of such applications. Hearings on the claims and objections received during the inspection period will be held from April 17 to April 20.
Following those proceedings, all decisions taken on the applications will be conveyed to registration officers by April 21, according to the notification.
Final publication date fixed
After all approved amendments and corrections are incorporated into the lists, the final electoral rolls will be published on April 30, 2026.
The fresh schedule covers the full sequence of work for the preparation of the updated rolls, beginning with enrolment and data submission, followed by the release of preliminary data, public inspection, the filing of claims and objections, hearings on those applications, and the communication of decisions before the final publication.
The announcement provides a clear timeline for voters and officials involved in the revision of electoral records in Azad Jammu and Kashmir ahead of the issuance of the final rolls next year.
