Al-Fatah says 'oops' after shoppers spot Israeli product in stores

Al-Fatah, one of Pakistan’s biggest retail chains, is in the spotlight after shoppers spotted a product linked to Israel on store shelves — and, naturally, the internet exploded. Within hours, photos of the item were being shared across social media, sparking a mix of outrage, confusion, and calls for action.

The product in question is a Herbal Essences shampoo from Israel.

The incident sparked strong reactions online. One customer shared that they had reported the product last year but were initially told it was not Hebrew, expressing shock that such items could enter Pakistan.

In a statement, the company said it hears its customers and stands with them, noting that the products were sourced through multiple third-party importers and distributors. Al-Fatah stressed that it does not intentionally promote or support any country or agenda that conflicts with the values of its customers.

The chain confirmed that the identified products were immediately removed from shelves, and importers have been formally notified to discontinue them.

Another comment urged shoppers to verify products before calling for a boycott, reminding the public that Al-Fatah is a retailer, not a manufacturer, and international supply chains can sometimes complicate sourcing.

Al-Fatah concluded that it remains committed to aligning its product selection with the expectations and values of its customers, ensuring such incidents are addressed promptly.
