iPhone Fold rumours reveal Apple’s boldest iPhone yet

Rumours around Apple’s next big move are heating up, and this time, it’s not just another upgrade—it’s an entirely new category. The so-called “iPhone Fold” is shaping up to be Apple’s most ambitious device yet, with leaks pointing to a book-style foldable that could blur the line between iPhone and iPad.

Expected to arrive around 2026 or 2027, the foldable device is said to feature a 7.8-inch inner OLED display that opens up to resemble an iPad mini, alongside a 5.5-inch outer screen for regular, on-the-go use. When folded, it reportedly stays impressively slim at around 9–9.5mm, wrapped in a premium titanium chassis.

What’s caught the most attention, though, is the possibility of a near-invisible crease—a problem that has plagued most foldable phones so far. If accurate, it could explain why Apple has taken years to enter the foldable race, focusing heavily on durability, hinge engineering, and display refinement.

Leaks also suggest the device will pack two 48MP rear cameras and dual front-facing cameras, optimized for both folded and unfolded use. On the software side, it’s expected to behave like a standard iPhone when closed, but switch to a more iPad-style experience when opened, with apps running side-by-side.

Price-wise, the foldable won’t come cheap. Early estimates suggest a $2,000+ price tag, placing it firmly in ultra-premium territory.

Interestingly, while reports hint at Apple testing a new deep red color for upcoming iPhones—something not seen since the iPhone 14’s (PRODUCT)RED edition—the foldable model will likely stick to classic tones like space gray or black, keeping things understated.

The buzz around the device has picked up significantly in recent months, with multiple leaks from well-known insiders, including Mark Gurman, pointing toward active development and a potential timeline that aligns with Apple’s flagship launches.

Foldable screens remain one of the toughest challenges in smartphone manufacturing, with issues around creases, durability, and hinges still affecting the category. But Apple’s long history of internal prototyping and experimentation suggests the company has been quietly working to overcome these hurdles for years.

While Apple has yet to confirm anything officially, all signs point to a major reveal inching closer. If the current timeline holds, Apple may finally enter the foldable space at full flagship scale—and redefine it in the process.
