Anti-drone systems being considered for sensitive locations
Pakistan is considering deploying anti-drone systems at sensitive installations to counter emerging threats from unmanned aerial vehicles, as part of broader security modernisation efforts.

RAWALPINDI: Authorities in Rawalpindi are considering the installation of anti-drone systems and firearms at sensitive locations linked to Chinese projects to strengthen security measures.
The proposal was discussed during a meeting of the Regional Coordination Committee, chaired by Regional Police Officer Khalid Hamdani, with senior police officials and representatives of relevant departments in attendance to assess the city’s security situation.
Officials highlighted emerging threats in the region and recommended deploying anti-drone technology at critical sites, including workplaces and residences of Chinese experts. Some locations already have these systems installed, and further enhancements were suggested.
The Special Branch has been tasked with conducting thorough security audits of housing societies and verifying the credentials of employees and private security personnel. Authorities were also directed to keep updated records of Chinese nationals and increase intelligence-based monitoring to ensure comprehensive safety.
