 LAHORE: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday reached out to key state, political and military leadership to extend Eidul Fitr greetings, using the occasion to reaffirm unity, goodwill and a collective commitment to Pakistan’s progress, state media reported.

On the auspicious occasion, the prime minister held telephone conversations with the speaker of the National Assembly, provincial governors, chief ministers, services chiefs and leaders of allied and other political parties, exchanging warm Eid greetings and best wishes, said a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

In his outreach to the armed forces, the prime minister spoke with Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber, and Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, and conveyed his heartfelt Eid greetings.

He paid tribute to officers and soldiers of the armed forces who, even on Eid, remain deployed away from their families in the service of safeguarding the country’s borders.

The prime minister also extended Eid greetings to National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, as well as to provincial governors including Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan, Sindh Governor Nehal Hashmi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, and Balochistan Governor Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhail.

In separate calls, he greeted Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, conveying his best wishes on the festive occasion.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also contacted leaders of allied and other political parties, including Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, MQM Pakistan Chairman Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Awami National Party President Aimal Wali Khan, Balochistan Awami Party President Sardar Khalid Hussain Magsi, Istehkam-i-Pakistan Party President Abdul Aleem Khan, and senior Pakistan Muslim League (Q) leader Chaudhry Salik Hussain.

He extended Eidul Fitr greetings to all political leaders and expressed his best wishes for their continued contributions to the country.

Meanwhile, the prime minister also held telephone conversations with Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Faisal Mumtaz Rathore, and Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Justice (retd) Yaar Muhammad, conveying Eid greetings and goodwill.
