Leave of Sindh transport department officers cancelled on Eid

LAHORE: The Punjab government has cancelled the leave of transport department officers during the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays, directing them to remain on duty to ensure smooth functioning of public transport services during the festive period.

Directive issued for Eid-ul-Fitr transport management

According to details, the leave of all officers and staff of the Punjab transport department has been cancelled during the Eid holidays. The decision has been taken to ensure that public transport operations continue without disruption during the Eid-ul-Fitr period, when millions of travellers are expected to move across the province to celebrate with their families.

The transport department officials have been directed to remain present at their respective duty stations throughout the holiday period. The move is aimed at ensuring that intercity and intracity transport services remain functional and that passengers do not face difficulties in commuting during the festive season.

Monitoring of transport services

Officers have been tasked with monitoring bus terminals, checking transport fares, and ensuring that transporters do not overcharge passengers during the high-demand Eid travel season. The authorities are also expected to keep a check on the fitness and roadworthiness of public transport vehicles plying on various routes across the province.

The cancellation of leave is a routine measure taken by provincial authorities ahead of major holidays and festivals, when the volume of passengers travelling between cities increases significantly.
