PESHAWAR: Authorities in Peshawar have imposed Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code, effective immediately, in anticipation of the upcoming Eid celebrations. The order will remain in effect for 30 days, according to official directives.
The enforcement of Section 144 prohibits the assembly of more than four people in public spaces, as well as any activities that could potentially disrupt public order. The measure is intended to maintain peace and security in the city during the festive period.
Officials have stated that the decision was taken as a precautionary step to prevent any untoward incidents and to ensure the safety of citizens during Eid. The order is applicable across the entire city of Peshawar and will be strictly enforced by law enforcement agencies.
Authorities have urged residents to cooperate with the measures and avoid gatherings that could violate the restrictions. The imposition of Section 144 is a common practice in various parts of the country during major events and religious occasions to help maintain law and order.
The directive comes as preparations for Eid are underway, with increased activity expected in markets and public areas. Law enforcement officials will be monitoring compliance with the order throughout the 30-day period.
