National Highway and Motorway Police launches inquiry into alleged leniency shown to TV anchor
The National Highway and Motorway Police has begun an inquiry into allegations that officials showed leniency to TV anchor Mansoor Ali Khan after he was stopped for over-speeding near Islamabad.

ISLAMABAD: The National Highway and Motorway Police (NHMP) has initiated a fact-finding inquiry against its officials following allegations of leniency shown to prominent television anchorperson Mansoor Ali Khan after he was stopped for over-speeding on the motorway.
According to official sources, the incident took place on February 28, when a motorway patrol team was conducting speed checks near Chakri Interchange 310 at approximately 5:30pm. During the operation, officials detected a vehicle with registration number BQB-79 traveling at a speed of 166 kilometres per hour, significantly exceeding the prescribed speed limit.
The patrol team, which included Inspector Police Waseem Murtaza and Sub-Inspector Saadat Hassan, signalled the vehicle to stop. However, the driver allegedly did not halt at the checkpoint and continued driving. The vehicle was later intercepted near Islamabad by Inspector Police Faraz Mehdi, who managed to stop the car and identify the driver as Mansoor Ali Khan.
According to preliminary accounts, the officer initially intended to issue a challan for the traffic violation. However, the matter has now prompted the NHMP to launch a formal inquiry into whether the officials involved showed undue leniency during the process. The inquiry aims to establish the facts surrounding the incident and determine if standard procedures were followed.
The NHMP has stated that appropriate action will be taken based on the findings of the inquiry. The case has drawn attention due to the involvement of a well-known media personality and the importance of upholding traffic laws without exception.
