ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Friday raised serious concerns regarding the health of its founder and former prime minister, Imran Khan, reiterating its call for his immediate transfer to Shifa International Hospital for specialized medical treatment.
During a press conference, senior PTI leaders condemned what they described as the government’s “criminal negligence” in addressing Imran Khan’s medical needs. The party leadership insisted that, as a former prime minister and a prominent national figure, Imran Khan should be provided with the necessary medical care at a specialized facility.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, accompanied by other senior party figures, criticized the federal government’s handling of the situation. He also spoke out against what he termed as politically motivated cases against Imran Khan. The PTI leaders demanded that Imran Khan’s personal physicians be granted immediate access to him, and that meetings with his family members and party leadership be allowed without restrictions.
The party warned that any further delay in providing adequate medical attention to Imran Khan could have “serious consequences.” PTI leaders emphasized the urgency of the matter and called on the authorities to act promptly to ensure the former prime minister’s well-being.
The press conference highlighted the party’s ongoing concerns about Imran Khan’s health and the conditions of his detention, as well as the broader political context surrounding his legal challenges.
