Opposition calls for briefing on defence agreements, demands Imran Khan's release
The opposition in the National Assembly has demanded a detailed briefing on recent defence agreements and called for the immediate release of former prime minister Imran Khan.

ISLAMABAD: The opposition in the National Assembly has called for an immediate and comprehensive briefing from the government regarding recent defence agreements. During a session on Monday, opposition lawmakers pressed the government to provide clarity on the nature and scope of these pacts.
Members of the opposition expressed concerns about the transparency of the agreements and emphasised the need for parliamentary oversight. They argued that the parliament should be kept informed about all significant national security decisions, including defence-related accords.
In addition to seeking details on the defence agreements, the opposition also reiterated its demand for the immediate release of former prime minister Imran Khan. Lawmakers stated that Imran Khan's continued detention was a matter of concern and called for his prompt release.
The opposition's dual demands were raised during the assembly proceedings, with members highlighting the importance of both national security transparency and respect for political rights. The government has yet to respond to these requests in the assembly.
