Islamabad High Court directs facilitation of Aitzaz Ahsan’s power of attorney for Imran Khan
The Islamabad High Court has directed the Advocate General Islamabad to facilitate Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan in obtaining Imran Khan’s power of attorney through Adiala jail’s superintendent, as part of the PTI founder’s appeal in the Toshakhana case.

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday instructed the Advocate General Islamabad to ensure that senior lawyer Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan is able to obtain a signed power of attorney from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan through the superintendent of Adiala jail.
The directive was issued by a division bench comprising Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir and Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro during a hearing related to Imran Khan’s appeal against his conviction in the Toshakhana case. The case stems from a complaint by the Election Commission of Pakistan, which accused Imran Khan of concealing details of Toshakhana gifts in his assets declaration.
During the proceedings, the court also instructed senior counsel Latif Khosa to come prepared with the relevant jail rules for the next hearing. The directions were given in response to a miscellaneous application seeking the transfer of Imran Khan to a hospital for medical treatment in connection with the ongoing appeal.
Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan and Latif Khosa were present during the hearing. The court emphasized the need for proper facilitation so that the legal process regarding the power of attorney could proceed without unnecessary delay.
The next hearing will focus on the presentation of jail rules by Latif Khosa, as directed by the court. The matter remains under consideration as the IHC continues to hear the appeal against Imran Khan’s conviction.
