RAWALPINDI: The Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) is on track to complete the flyovers and underpasses of the Rs14 billion Kutchery Chowk remodelling project ahead of Eidul Fitr, according to officials overseeing the development.
This update was provided during a recent site visit by a technical team from the National Engineering Services Pakistan (Nespak), which was accompanied by FWO Project Director Col Akber and retired Brig Ijaz Qamar Kiani. Superintending Engineer Punjab Highways Ashfaq Anwar was also present during the inspection.
During the visit, the Nespak team conducted a thorough review of the technical aspects and progress of the Kutchery Chowk remodelling project, as well as the underpasses project on Peshawar Road. Officials stated that the roads on the flyovers and underpasses are scheduled for completion before Eidul Fitr, facilitating improved traffic flow in the area.
Simultaneously, the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) has initiated beautification efforts at the project site. Lighting installation work has also commenced on the flyovers and underpasses, further enhancing the infrastructure ahead of its opening.
The inspection included a detailed assessment of various technical components, with the Nespak team focusing on the post-completion traffic flow and overall functionality of the scheme. The project is expected to significantly ease congestion and improve transportation in Rawalpindi once operational.
The Kutchery Chowk remodelling project, with an estimated cost of Rs14 billion, is considered a major infrastructure initiative for the city. The coordinated efforts of FWO, PHA, and other relevant authorities aim to ensure timely completion and readiness for public use before the upcoming Eid holiday.
