Aleema Khan Says Imran Khan Had Foreseen Pak-Afghan Border Tensions

ISLAMABAD: Aleema Khan, sister of former prime minister Imran Khan, stated on Tuesday that her brother had previously predicted the current situation at the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. Speaking to reporters outside Adiala Jail, she referenced Imran Khan's past statements and social media posts regarding Afghanistan, suggesting that he had warned about the developments now unfolding at the border.

"That is why Imran is in jail as he knew all that. Just look at Imran’s tweets and statements regarding Afghanistan. He used to say that these people will pit Muslim countries against each other," Aleema Khan said in response to a question about the ongoing border tensions. She further commented, "Don’t ask me and just read Imran’s tweets. He used to say we should not get caught into this trap."

Aleema Khan arrived at Adiala Jail with her sisters to meet Imran Khan, but according to reports, the jail administration did not permit the meeting. She expressed disappointment over being stopped from seeing her brother.

Addressing the broader security situation, Aleema Khan remarked that the country has struggled to control acts of terrorism for the past four decades. She emphasized that war is not a solution to any issue, echoing Imran Khan's stance that political and tribal elders from both sides of the border should be engaged to address the matter.

“He used to say that political and tribal elders of both sides should be engaged to address the issue,” Aleema Khan said, referencing her brother’s approach to resolving border tensions.

When asked further about the border situation, Aleema Khan reiterated her brother’s warnings and called for dialogue rather than conflict. She maintained that Imran Khan’s previous statements and social media activity had anticipated the current challenges at the Pak-Afghan border.
