PIMS Reports Significant Improvement in Imran Khan's Vision After Eye Treatment

The Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) has stated that the vision of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has improved significantly following recent medical treatment. According to official statements, a medical board conducted a comprehensive examination of Khan at Adiala jail, where he is currently incarcerated.

The examination included a series of tests, such as optical coherence tomography performed on both eyes. The medical board comprised Dr Nadeem Qureshi, head of the vitreoretinal department at Al-Shifa Trust Eye Hospital in Rawalpindi, and Dr M Arif Khan, head of the ophthalmology department at PIMS, Islamabad. The same team had previously examined Khan last month at the same facility.

PIMS released a press statement confirming that the latest examination was conducted as a follow-up after Khan received his second dose of intravitreal injection of anti-VEGF, a treatment used for certain eye conditions. The statement noted that Khan's vision had "improved remarkably" as a result of the ongoing treatment.

However, representatives of the PTI party have raised concerns regarding the process of the medical examination. Party officials asserted that any medical assessment carried out without the presence of Imran Khan’s personal physicians and immediate family members lacked "transparency and credibility." Despite these concerns, the medical board maintained that the examination was thorough and followed standard procedures.

Sources indicate that the medical team will continue to monitor Khan’s condition and provide further treatment as necessary. No additional details regarding future medical interventions have been disclosed at this time.

The examination and subsequent statements from both the medical board and PTI officials highlight ongoing differences regarding the oversight and transparency of Khan’s medical care while in custody.
