IHC Schedules Hearing on Imran Khan’s Hospital Transfer Plea for March 10

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has set March 10 as the date to hear a petition filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, seeking permission to receive medical treatment at Shifa International Hospital. The court has also scheduled the main appeal in the Toshakhana criminal case for the same date.

A division bench comprising Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir and Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro presided over the proceedings on Tuesday. Senior counsel Latif Khosa, along with Salman Akram Raja and other lawyers, appeared before the court to represent Imran Khan. The bench addressed the objections raised by the Registrar’s Office regarding the miscellaneous application submitted by Khan’s legal team.

During the hearing, the court inquired about the specific nature of the objections. Latif Khosa informed the bench that one of the objections concerned the absence of a certified copy of the power of attorney. Justice Tahir noted that two of the objections raised by the Registrar’s Office were valid.

Following the discussion, the court directed the Registrar’s Office to schedule both Imran Khan’s plea for hospital transfer and the main Toshakhana appeal for hearing on March 10. Imran Khan was first arrested in connection with the Toshakhana case on August 5, 2023.

The court’s decision to hear both matters on the same day follows procedural review and addresses the administrative concerns highlighted by the Registrar’s Office. Further proceedings are expected on the scheduled date.
