LAHORE: A physical altercation between a male and a female lawyer broke out inside the premises of the Lahore High Court amid heightened tensions surrounding the Lahore High Court Bar Association election, with videos of the incident circulating widely on social media.
The clash reportedly lasted several minutes and occurred within the court complex during the ongoing bar election process, which has been marked by heated exchanges and factional rivalry.
Footage shared on platforms including Instagram, TikTok and Facebook shows a chaotic scene, with lawyers shouting and using abusive language. Some of the verbal abuse heard in the clips appears to be gender-based.
In one segment of the video, the female lawyer is seen throwing an object that appears to be part of a fan towards the male lawyer, which strikes him. Moments later, the male lawyer appears to physically assault her. She attempts to retaliate, but he continues to hit her before others move closer.
The footage also shows at least two male lawyers engaging in a separate physical fight. Several individuals can be seen filming the altercation rather than intervening, while voices in the background are heard encouraging the violence.
The incident has raised serious questions about discipline within the legal community, particularly as it unfolded inside one of the country’s highest judicial forums.
The videos triggered strong reactions online, with many users expressing shock and criticism.
“These are the people who defend us in court?” one user wrote.
“State of our law and justice system is visible here,” another commented.
Others questioned how such conduct could occur within court premises, calling for disciplinary action against those involved.
At the time of writing, no official statement had been issued by the Lahore High Court administration regarding possible action against the lawyers seen in the videos. The incident has intensified scrutiny over the conduct of bar elections and internal accountability within the legal fraternity.
